  • Happy New Year! Our Centennial Parkside Team, in our mission to raise the quality of life through Community, Development, Sustainability and Programs that preserve and renew the urban fabric of this historic neighborhood is creating a path forward for our residents and neighbors by actively participating and reviewing various proposals for development. Our participation is intentional. We're seeking contributions and donations that will support our legal and zoning teams for the latest Viola Street initiative (a key street within East Parkside). The attached video from our earlier years holds true today. We want to support development and the Viola Street residents to re-knit the urban fabric in this great historic neighborhood. Watch our video and please help! Make a difference! Link to Go-Fund Me: https://gofund.me/55e7cf83 Link to Youtube Video: https://lnkd.in/dcpwjUCS

  • Centennial Parkside CDC is very excited to share this wonderful video highlighting our collaborative work to green the East Parkside neighborhood. This film was produced to promote CPCDC as the U.S. Green Building Council’s selection for their 2024 Green Build Conference Legacy Project awardee. https://lnkd.in/e7P__mAz The work of CPCDC, EPRA, and our many partners and collaborators is an extension of social and environmental justice advocacy that has been made possible by many generations of dedicated community leaders. And our hope is that this work will be carried on for many generations to come. Thank you to all of you who are committed to supporting the East Parkside neighborhood and Centennial Parkside CDC. Please share this video and continue to celebrate our amazing community.

  • Did you know that the Centennial Parkside CDC's BLACK URBAN THEATER team designed the Step and Repeat backdrop for the Philadelphia Zoo Gala Fundraiser that was held earlier this month? We used recycled and repurposed materials such as branches from fallen trees, old amazon bags, and bits of old yard garden decorations (from our Momma's houses) for the installation. This all was attached with string and wire + a few bread ties and duct tape to an old photo backdrop stand that had been discarded. Hobby Lobby and the Dollar $tore filled in the rest :) Purpose-full reimagining of resources for a beautifully creative environment.

  • We had a great time this past Saturday with Walls of Justice, Neighbors, Friends, EPRA and the CPCDC painting the new shed installation at North Star Park! On October 6th the organizations, along with dedicated volunteers, celebrated a year-long collaborative community design process that brought 3 new Playful Learning landscapes to North Star Park. Through a community partnership with the Drexel Playful Learning interdisciplinary seminar course, community members collaborated with students and local experts to create the bright and beautiful Playful Learning installations. Design teams focused on developing initiatives for multiple sites for the purpose of fostering intergenerational interaction and enriching children’s cognitive and social development in the public spaces that they encounter every day. It works with communities, designers, and researchers to transform otherwise ordinary areas like corner lots, laundromats, and bus stops into hubs of vibrant playful learning experiences. It's meant to provide equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities in everyday places and spaces, enhance children’s cognitive and social development, and prepare them confidently for success. Everyone is so excited to bring this and the shed to East Parkside's NSP. The container shed installation will be used multi- purposely. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE who facilitated and continues to invest in the success of this project and the betterment of our neighborhood. #EastParksideCommunity
