CCIJ Welcomes Andrew Lehren As New Editorial Director The Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ) is excited to announce the appointment of Andy Lehren as the organization’s new Editorial Director. With a career spanning nearly three decades in investigative journalism, Andy brings a wealth of experience from working at The New York Times and NBC News, where he developed and led numerous high-impact investigations. Andy has been collaborating with CCIJ over the past year, working alongside the CCIJ West Africa Hub’s Nigeria Elections investigations, He has also worked for Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), InsideClimate News, and Big Local News. His global collaborations, including with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), have led to significant breakthroughs on subjects such as money laundering, medicine, and government oversight. Reflecting on this new role, Andy said: “It has been a pleasure working with the CCIJ team, and I am honored to now take on the role of Editorial Director. I look forward to continuing our work, building impactful stories that shine a light on injustice, and mentoring the next generation of journalists.” CCIJ’s Executive Director Jeff Kelly Lowenstein excitement about the appointment: “Andy is a world-class investigative journalist and journalism educator with a proven ability to guide investigative teams to deliver meaningful stories that align with CCIJ’s mission. We are thrilled to have him join our leadership team and look forward to the many impactful projects we will create together.” Andy’s impressive resume includes contributing to a Pulitzer-winning investigation, and being part of a team that was a Pulitzer finalist. His many other honors include a Peabody, Polk, Emmy and Columbia-duPont awards. He has long fostered international journalistic collaborations, and mentoring students whose work has received national recognition. His work at The New York Times, NBC News, and with the Pulitzer Center has led to changes in laws, company practices, and government regulations. With Andy at the helm of CCIJ’s editorial vision, we look forward to producing impactful investigations that drive change.
