The "University-Embassy Partnership Development: Building Value-Added Connectivity and Impact" event was a huge success! About us
Reporting directly to the Office of the Provost at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the Center for Global Engagement works to lead, coordinate and support the university’s strategies for global education, research and engagement. Our responsibilities include developing and managing international partnerships, welcoming and assisting international students and scholars, providing education abroad opportunities for students and creating international and intercultural programming for the campus and the broader community. With a staff numbering more than 35 individuals, CGE is organized into six major units including Asia Engagement, English Language Institute, Global Research Office, International House, International Student and Scholar Services and Programs Abroad. With approximately 1,200 international students from over 100 different countries, some 500 international scholars, and more than 1,500 students studying abroad every year, CGE keeps the University of Tennessee connected around the world. This past summer Lettie Jo participated in the Small Animal Veterinary Experience (SAVE) study abroad program in Belize. She gained valuable confidence through this program that will serve her well on her path to becoming a veterinarian. Yesterday, CCI leadership and UT's Center for Global Engagement hosted Chinese Embassy Minister Counsellor Shen Xuesong and Second Secretary of the Education Section Jiang Hongmin to discuss the 2+2 degree program with Liaoning University. We are proud to host one of the first programs of this kind at University of Tennessee, Knoxville and look forward to the opportunities it will create for our students.

The Center For Global Engagement (CGE) is spearheading an effort to create a unified vision and strategy regarding global engagement for University of Tennessee, Knoxville. To accomplish this goal, the Office of the Provost and CGE created the UT Global Strategy Commission, which includes various stakeholders from all 14 colleges across UT’s campus.
