"Rather than be on the defensive, educators can achieve their maximum impact by assisting justice-involved students to cultivate better educational and social-emotional skills through developing strong student-teacher-parent relationships and modeling effective problem-solving and social skills." Four years ago, we introduced Prayers for Our Political Community, a series of daily prayers around key themes, starting the evening before Election Day and continuing through the day after the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. As we approach another election season, we invite you to pray for our political system and those pursuing justice within it. Today, we’re resharing a prayer from Michele Moorlag-Salcido on recognizing the image of God in all people, especially in today’s political climate, a theme as relevant now as it was then. Michèle, a former CPJ intern, based in the Netherlands, works as a security advisor for NGOs and FBOs working in conflict areas around the world and holds a master’s in Religion, Conflict, and Globalization from Groningen University.

We at T3 Leadership Solutions, Inc. just wrapped up a coaching contract and board training w/ the Center for Public Justice. Thank you for letting us serve your organization. We provided #leadership skills training and talked about power dynamics, what to do after we set a table for diversity, and the various ways that we can use our influence to positively impact the choices of others. I love the work that we do to develop #leaders, build human connections, and shape organizational culture.

What is the most under-reported good news story of this election cycle? Spoiler: it has little to do with politicians. While political pundits debate the future of the #CTC and #SNAP, small faith-based nonprofits are quietly and faithfully serving vulnerable and food insecure families. ⛪ In the U.S. there are thousands of faith-based organizations that have grown out of churches, mosques, and synagogues. 💵 The Faith Sector contributes $1.2 trillion annually to the the U.S. economy. 🛏️ Faith-based organizations provide 58% of beds in emergency shelters. ✝️ 7 out of 9 organizations aiding refugees in the U.S. are faith-based. 🍞 55% of all food banks in the U.S. are run by religious organizations. Read my article below for the Center for Public Justice and follow the series to learn more about the Invisible Social Safety Net and how government can continue to support these organizations crucial to the welfare of America.
