Our vision is to end the cycle of child abuse through advocacy, education and community support.
About us
The Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center, is the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a child-friendly, specially-equipped facility where children go for recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. It is the only nonprofit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. All services are provided to children and their protective caregivers at no charge and most are available in English and Spanish. Children are referred to the Center for Child Protection for services exclusively through law enforcement and Child Protective Services when one or more of the following circumstances have occurred: - A child made an outcry of sexual abuse. - A child has experienced physical abuse. - A child has witnessed a violent crime.

🙌 Our volunteers may work behind the scenes, but their impact is heard loud and clear in the projects that support our work! Two amazing teams from CWS Apartment Homes joined us for their National Day of Caring to learn how to #ProtectAustinKids and created beautiful affirmation bracelets for our upcoming fundraising event. Thank you, CWS, for spreading kindness and positivity!

For over 30 years, the Center for Child Protection has been a lifeline for Travis County’s children affected by abuse. In 2023, we helped over 1,700 kids find healing through services like forensic interviews, medical assessments, and therapy. We also expanded education to better protect children in our community. A big thanks to this incredible group of volunteers from Volunteering Untapped ATX! 🌼 They brightened our space by painting stunning flowers on our fence, edging our side garden, and wrapped it all up with a tour of the Center. The children we serve use our backyard regularly as a calming space to enjoy outdoor activities and participate in therapy. We are so grateful for your hard work and support! ✨🐶 Did you know dogs can do much more than play fetch? The Center for Child Protection's specially trained facility dogs provide comfort and support to children recovering from trauma. 🐾 Thanks to a generous grant from the Austin Bar Foundation, we are expanding our facility dog program to include additional canine healers. 🦮 These pups will eventually provide an additional full week of animal-assisted intervention to Travis County kids. Thank you Austin Bar Foundation! ✨
