Professor (Health & Sports Science) - UJ | Fulbright Research Scholar - MIT (2024) | Ph.D. (University of Cape Town)
Although I’m a visitor in the U.S., yesterday was special as I had the pleasure of hosting colleagues from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) for a visit and brief tour of MIT. We explored the sports lab, immersion lab as well as the Center for Clinical and Translational Research. Our UNH colleagues also connected with some of our Faculty and students. This visit marks the beginning of what I hope will be a long-term (tri-lateral) collaboration between our institutions, enabling us to push boundaries, share knowledge and innovate together. Grateful for the opportunity to foster these connections and excited for what lies ahead! Thank you so much, Marguerite, Trish, Sanghee and Nagaraj for coming all this way 😊 #MIT #UJ #UNH #Innovation #Internationalisation #Research #Partnerships

What an inspiring day at the University of New Hampshire Life Sciences Showcase Day and Executive Round Table yesterday! We had a full day of meaningful discussions with industry leaders and tours of UNH’s advanced life sciences and support facilities on the Durham campus. The commitment to fostering innovation and growth in New Hampshire’s life sciences sector was exciting to see. Our conversations with industry partners covered a broad spectrum and some of our takeaways are: ◾ Talent: Building and retaining top talent (i.e. USNH grads) is key to success. ◾ Economic Growth: Strengthening NH's economy through life sciences innovation. ◾ Partnerships: Public-private collaboration is critical to making NH a destination for life sciences. ◾ Stronger Industry Voice: Elevating the role of life sciences and education partnerships. ◾ Scaling K-12 and career and technical education programs: Preparing the next generation for opportunities. ◾ Internships and Experiential Learning: Connecting students with real-world experience. UNH offers industry partners a range of opportunities, including co-location options, access to world-class instrumentation and technical services, cutting-edge lab resources and support, and workforce development programs to help businesses thrive. Thank you to all of our industry partners who joined us. Together, let's make New Hampshire the nation’s destination for life sciences! A huge thank you to our colleagues at NH Life Sciences, The Browne Center for Innovative Learning, University of New Hampshire Research, Center for Business Analytics - Paul College, UNH, UNH Career and Professional Success (CaPS), UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, UNH-BIC, University System of NH, Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH), UNH Admissions, and many, many others who help make UNH an innovation ecosystem. If you’re interested in engaging with our life sciences network and want to connect, please reach out to UNHInnovation at unh.innovation@unh.edu. #LifeSciences #Innovation #Collaboration #UNH #HigherEducation

Networking is a superpower in business 🦸 At Paul College, we start building that muscle on day one. Last night, First-year Innovation and Research Experience (FIRE) students participated in a faux-networking night. Scary? Maybe. Essential? Absolutely. Here's how we tried to make it fun: Find Your Match!🎯 Students wore labels on their backs with the name of a mystery item. They had to talk to others to guess their own item! Human Bingo! 📝 Find someone who... ☕️ Doesn't drink coffee 🗣 Speaks 2+ languages 👯♂️ Is a twin Line up! 🔠 Alphabetical order - no talking allowed. This or That?📚🎬 Books or movies? Early bird or night owl? These rapid-fire questions got conversations flowing and helped break the ice with a fun, lighthearted twist. Beyond making friends and learning how to chat, students also got extra FIRE points for participating! 🏆 FIRE implements a point system with prizes and bragging rights for both teams and individuals. The more you participate in FIRE programming and life at UNH, the more points you get. Why do we do this? Because approaching strangers is HARD. But it's a skill you'll need. Every. Single. Day. In business and in life. 💼🤝

Embracing Connections at Startup Boston Week 2024. This week, as we attend the Startup Boston Week at Suffolk University, we're reminded of the incredible power and importance of networking. Building meaningful connections is not just about expanding our professional network—it's about fostering collaborations that inspire innovation and drive growth. 🔗 Why Networking Matters: - Learning Opportunities: Every conversation has potential to introduce new ideas and perspectives that can transform our approach to challenges. - Partnerships: Connections can lead to collaborations and partnerships that might not have been possible otherwise. - Support System: Building a network provides a support system of peers, mentors, and industry leaders who can offer advice and guidance as you navigate your career or business journey. We're excited to meet fellow innovators and thinkers. Let's connect! If you're at the event, reach out to us here on LinkedIn. #SBW2024 #Networking #BusinessAnalytics #Innovation #CommunityBuilding
