Earlier this month our team at Northern Dauphin Food Pantry had the honor of visiting a 1st grade classroom at Millersburg Elementary as part of their lesson on community helpers. It was an incredible privilage to share the importance of supporting our neighbors facing hunger with tomorrow's leaders. Thank you! #centralpafb #nonprofit #foodbank

About us
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has been dedicated to ending hunger for more than 30 years. The Food Bank started as a one-day demonstration project on World Food Day in 1981, and to address the needs of hungry families, began permanent operation on October 16, 1982. Originally, the Food Bank was located in a converted movie theater in Steelton. The Food Bank initiated a capital campaign, raising 1.5 million dollars directed to the construction of a brand new warehouse. Then, in 1994, the Food Bank relocated to its current facility in Harrisburg. Mission: Fighting hunger, improving lives, strengthening communities. At the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, we live our mission every day. It is our passion. We truly believe no one should be hungry and we are committed to working harder every day to make that belief a reality. We trust that the healthy food we distribute is an investment in our community, providing hope for families who are trying to build a brighter future and otherwise would lack fuel to succeed. What We Do: Serving 27 counties, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in central PA. The Food Bank solicits, inventories and distributes food and other donated products to more than 1000 partner agencies (food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, etc.) directly serving our neighbors in need. The Food Bank distributed more than 50 million nutritious meals through our partner networks over the past year. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is part of the Feeding America and Feeding Pennsylvania network of food banks.

Today, we celebrate the hardworking farmers who nourish our communities and provide the fresh, locally sourced food that is so vital to our mission. Farmers are the backbone of ensuring that families facing food insecurity have access to healthy, nutritious meals. Thanks to the dedication of local farmers, we're able to provide fresh produce and dairy products to thousands of people in need. Together, we’re planting the seeds of hope and building a stronger, healthier community. Thank you, farmers, for helping us feed hope and fight hunger!

Did you know that in our Hispanic neighbors are more than twice as likely as the general population to experience food insecurity? Our Policy, Research and Impact Team is hard at work examining each of our counties through their Hunger Mapping initiative to find the gaps in our communities. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is dedicated to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to nutritious, culturally relevant foods while also working with our partners to ensure translation for our Spanish-speaking neighbors. #nonprofit #centralpafb #foodbank
