So grateful for volunteers like Ryan! Thank you for supporting our students.
Fourth-year Haslam Leadership Scholar and College Scholar at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
After almost three years as a volunteer with Centro Hispano de East Tennessee, today was my last day teaching ESL. I have taught the same students for almost all three years, thanks to Centro letting teachers move up levels with their students. Here is just one of the idioms/jokes I have taught. Thank you so much to Centro for all the opportunities it provides to volunteers and clients--my college career would not be the same without this organization! And, of course, thank you to my students for letting me into their lives as they take on a second language (and for the beautiful flowers). Commend those in your life who speak or are trying to learn another language. ¡Adelante!
