The Riggs Distler street lighting team based in Dundalk, MD, has successfully upgraded Georgetown's street lighting in D.C.! They replaced old mercury vapor lights with advanced LEDs, boosting safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. This upgrade is a key part of D.C.’s “Vision Zero” campaign, aiming to eliminate traffic fatalities and promote safer, more equitable mobility.

Helping prevent utility strikes is the responsibility of anyone who works, digs or excavates near utility lines. That’s why the 811 "Call Before You Dig" nationwide program was created! The easily accessible resource is aimed at helping prevent excavation damage, utility strikes, and injuries. Simply dial 811 from anywhere in the United States and you will be connected to your local 811 one-call center where a representative will support you. These call centers will arrange for professional locators to come out to your location, mark the approximate location of buried utilities with flags or paint so they can be easily identified prior to any excavation activities beginning. At Centuri, safety and quality go hand in hand.

The Paris Olympics might have ended, but the spirit of competition is alive and well at Centuri! Yesterday, teams in our office faced off in exciting events like trivia, puzzles, and minute-to-win-it games, all vying for the top spot. Alongside the fun, we united to support local schools by collecting much-needed supplies. Together, we’re making a difference both in and out of the office!

It’s back to school season across the country, and this year NEUCO, a Centuri company, played an important role in helping a university reach its clean energy goals. University of New Hampshire (UNH) is committed to renewable energy, generating its own electricity and heat through a combined heat and power plant. That plant operates on processed landfill gas transported through a 12-mile pipeline. On behalf of our utility customer, NEUCO was tasked with performing a cutout of the 12” plastic line and installing a new 12” plastic valve. The work was completed within two days, safely, and in an environmentally sound manner. By effectively reusing waste heat, UNH reduces greenhouse gas emissions, lowers energy consumption, and stabilizes utility costs for the campus. This project gets high marks from everyone involved!
