🏠 Home buyers, beware! We've seen a 120% increase in buyer-side frauds reported in the last two weeks. Of the 11 cases our Fraud Recovery Services team took on in this period, 8 were for home buyer victims. Across all 11 cases, fraudsters diverted $3.8M (avg $345k per fraud). Luckily, by moving fast and getting our team involved, we've already returned $1M. We're hoping for more good news on the remainder of these funds this week. 💡Tip: If you are a real estate professional, inform your home buyers that they are at a heightened risk for cyber fraud. Tell them to double-check email domains and confirm that all payment information is coming from a trusted party before transacting. #RealEstate #BusinessEmailCompromise
