About us
Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services (CFCS) is a Church-owned nonprofit organization founded in faith and dedicated to providing education, outreach and professional funeral, cremation and cemetery services while following the teachings of the Church. With CFCS, you can be assured that you and your family come first. CFCS knows that the loss of a loved one is always difficult. Celebrating the gift of faith with family and friends is an essential part of the healing process. Our goal is to share the journey, although trying and wearisome, while we educate and guide our families towards making the right end-of-life decisions. With programs and services for immediate needs and for those planning in advance, CFCS is a resource that families can trust. CFCS staff works in numerous dioceses around the country, supporting over 30 active cemeteries that conduct over 10,000 burial services annually. We also serve around 10 funeral centers that provide over 2,500 funeral and cremation services year after year. CFCS’ goal is to create a healthy and sustainable environment and reinvigorate the vital Catholic funeral and cemetery ministry in dioceses that are being challenged to sustain their operations.

This past year, the wildly popular and long-running primetime ABC-TV reality show “Shark Tank” had two companies pitch novel ideas for disposing human remains. In April, an entrepreneur pitched turning remains into collectible stones and received a deal, while in September a company pitched composting human remains into soil and didn’t receive a deal. For a show that has brought lighthearted and successful products such as Scrub Daddy and Bombas Socks to market, the topic of disposing human remains might seem unexpected. NEW: Whether we read about cremated remains being spread at theme parks, turned into jewelry, or composted in backyard gardens, it is important to reflect on what is -- and what is not -- appropriate in our handling of the dead. We've complied information from the Order of Christian Funerals and the USCCB here ➡ CatholicCremationFacts.com
