We're proud to work alongside our partners at Philadelphia Works, Inc. and the City of Philadelphia to expand pathways to good-paying jobs for Philadelphians.
Yesterday, Philadelphia took a monumental step toward shaping the future of its workforce during the Inaugural Philadelphia Workforce Hub Convening at the FINISHING TRADES INSTITUTE OF THE MID ATLANTIC REGION. The press event, where policy and passion intersected, welcomed key figures such as U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, White House Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden, and Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, and marked the beginning of a new era for the city. The day was more than a press opportunity – it was a call to action for all who believe in fostering a more inclusive and equitable workforce. Attendees gained firsthand insights into the Biden-Harris Administration's latest investments and partnerships that promise to revolutionize Philadelphia's job landscape, providing quality employment opportunities for all residents. A special highlight of the convening was the focus on empowering women in trades, celebrating the success of the WINC Tradeswomen Readiness Program, and its promise to pave the way for high-paying careers in the trades for women. With an emotional participant testimony of how the program offers a clear path to a good job and self-sufficiency, we've never been more optimistic about the future of Philadelphia's workforce. Check out the FACT SHEET for more information. Huge acknowledgment to leadership at the City of Philadelphia, The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, and Philadelphia Works, Inc. for driving the work behind these investments. Here’s to building a workforce ecosystem that mirrors the diversity of Philadelphia itself. #PhiladelphiaWorkforceHub #EquityInEmployment #EmpoweringWomenInTrades #FutureOfWork https://lnkd.in/eUHmysGS

Let's keep our Commonwealth moving. Our President and Chief Executive Officer Chellie Cameron expressed grave concerns over the lack of funding for our partners at Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Pennsylvania's FY 2024-2025 budget. We are proud to say "PA gets it done" on matters of basic education funding, business attraction and expansion, and a more competitive business tax and permitting environment. Yet without an adequate mass transit funding solution, this week’s state budget decisions leave many of us wondering how we’re planning to get there, literally. Philadelphia leaders have taken steps to improve the city’s business climate, but more work needs to be done to help small businesses thrive. The good news is we already have a roadmap for future success, which includes reducing Philadelphia’s Business Income & Receipts Tax (BIRT), writes Jennifer Rodriguez, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in an opinion piece for the Inclusive Growth Coalition.
