  • This September, key staff from CPJ joined federal, state, and Montgomery County leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of Hillandale Gateway, marking the start of a transformative 463-home affordable housing development. CPJ is proud to have played a critical role in bringing this project to life. Our team collaborated with site and building architects on the final site plan, processed road improvement plans with the county and state, designed innovative stormwater solutions, completed water and sewer design, and processed site construction permits. Hillandale Gateway will be the first Passive House & Zero-Net Energy multifamily project in Maryland and the largest development in East County in 50 years. Be sure to check out the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County to learn more! #HillandaleGateway #AffordableHousing #Sustainability Visit this link to read more about this project: https://lnkd.in/e8i44MBF

Last week, we engaged in insightful technical sessions and forged valuable connections with fellow attendees. We are excited to apply what we’ve learned and continue building on the relationships we established.

  • We had an amazing time last weekend at our company picnic! From the delicious food to fun games and a piñata for the kids, there was something for everyone. We wrapped up the day with a delicious dessert spread and a group photo to capture the memories. A big thanks to everyone who came out and made it a day to remember!

  • We’re excited to share one of our latest projects—a stunning 10-acre parcel in Harwood, MD. The owner’s vision was to preserve the natural landscape and native vegetation while upgrading to a new dwelling and accessory structure. Our team brought this vision to life through innovative site design, stormwater management, grading, and septic system installation. Harwood’s challenging high groundwater and poor soil conditions required us to integrate two 3,000-gallon concrete holding tanks and develop a stormwater management system that enhanced the site’s natural drainage patterns. From site layout to septic design, we’re proud to have delivered a home that beautifully blends modern living with environmental stewardship. This project is a true testament to how thoughtful design can achieve an owner’s vision while protecting the environment. #sitedesign #sustainableliving #environmentalstewardship #stormwatermanagement

  • CPJ is addressing significant erosion issues at the Livingston Woods Outfall project site in Prince George’s County, where a 291-foot stream channel has widened and eroded, impacting nearby properties and is causing significant sediment loss. With near vertical banks reaching up to 9 feet, the stream struggles to manage floodwaters during heavy rains. In July 2024, our team conducted a topographic survey, followed by fieldwork to measure stream cross-sections, longitudinal profiles, and pebble counts—steps that are critical to restoring the natural balance of this waterway. We’re very proud and thankful for all of our hard working field staff who endured through a very hot summer! #EnvironmentalEngineering #WaterwayRestoration #SustainableSolutions #Fieldwork #CPJProjects

  • As summer winds down, we're excited to shine a spotlight on the incredible work done by our interns. Their dedication and hard work has left a lasting impression, and we couldn't be more proud of them! Edwin Velez Garcia: Edwin joined our Public Sector Inspections department in Frederick, where he assisted with Stormwater Management Inspections and Pedestrian Bridge Assessments. After receiving his Associates Degree in Engineering from Frederick Community College, Edwin is now preparing to start his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at UMD College Park this fall. We look forward to seeing his continued success! Meena Toolaabee: Meena worked diligently in our Public Sector Design department in Greenbelt, where she assisted with Natural Resource Inventories, Stream Assessments, Data Analysis, and Permitting Applications. This fall, she'll be returning to UMD for her Senior Year in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Environmental and Water Resources. We wish her all the best as she continues her journey! Cecelia Shadrick: Cecelia worked in our Private Sector Planning department, where she played a crucial role in rendering plans, inputting grading into AutoCAD, addressing agency comments on plan submissions, conducting planning research, updating construction drawings, and studying paving pattern options for Hillandale. As she heads into her second year of Landscape Architecture studies at the University of Maryland, we know she’ll continue to excel.

  • This past weekend, we were thrilled to return to the Miss Utility Annual Touch A Truck event at the Bowie Baysox stadium! Our Surveys group had an incredible time engaging with the community and promoting damage prevention awareness. We proudly showcased our surveying truck and cutting-edge equipment, including our drone and scanning total station. Attendees had a fantastic opportunity to explore and interact with various service, emergency, and construction vehicles and staff. We even caught the Baysox playing a doubleheader and celebrated their victory in both games! #civilengineering #engineer #baseball #missutility #touchatruck #community #bowiebaysox #CPJ #surveys #drone #surveying #trucks #stadium #servicevehicles
