Set to launch in 2029, the Lowcountry Rapid Transit (LCRT) project will offer eco-friendly buses, frequent service, and improved access to healthcare, education, and jobs across the tri-county area. This $625 million project aims to transform the commute along Rivers Avenue with dedicated bus lanes, 34 new crosswalks, and enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety infrastructure. “What we have done is designed a transit system that goes through communities that are alive, vibrant and active, and is additive to them,” Mike Seekings, City of Charleston councilman, and chairman of the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA), said. “That is not displacing anybody, that is bringing them the ability to live, work, play.” https://loom.ly/qrBo4d4
