The logo and float of the festival were revealed at several universities, including Beacon House University, University of Lahore, Superior University, and COMSATS, where students showed great enthusiasm. Many young people actively participated in the festival competitions, showcasing their excitement. At the event, senior officials from the Sports and Education Departments explained the benefits, goals, and ways to participate in the festival. The students showed strong interest and appreciated the vision of the Chief Minister, who aims to create equal opportunities for the youth's success and well-being. They thanked her for the steps being taken by the Punjab government to support young people. Students recognized that this initiative by CM Punjab will help them test their skills and bring long-term positive results.     The Federal Government will hand over the Green Line Bus Service to the Sindh Government in December 2024. Sindh's Senior Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, recently led a meeting in Karachi to discuss preparations for this transfer. Key officials, including the Transport Secretary and the heads of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority and Trans Karachi, were present. They reviewed the current operations of the Green Line and discussed plans to link it with the Orange Line project. Minister Sharjeel Memon directed the swift completion of this connection and discussed the government's public transport initiatives and subsidies for the Green Line. He emphasized the importance of the Green Line in Karachi's transport system and confirmed that the Sindh Government plans to take full control of it by December 2024. The federal government is currently providing a 2 billion rupee subsidy for the service, which the Sindh Government will re-evaluate after the transfer. Additional buses will also be added to improve services for the public.     A review meeting was held, led by Additional Chief Secretary of Local Government Sindh, Khalid Haider Shah, to discuss linking the salaries of local council employees to the online SAP system. The meeting took place at the Local Government Department's Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Node, and was attended by Project Director CLICK Asif Jan Siddiqui, Deputy Project Director Zainul Abedin Mirani, Additional Secretary Local Finance Wing Ghulam Murtaza Sheikh, and other officials. During the briefing, Asif Jan Siddiqui explained that salaries and pensions for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and 21 towns in Karachi have been connected to the SAP system, ensuring that irregularities in payments are now impossible. He also noted that 19 towns, including KMC, have their proposed budgets reflected in SAP, while other towns are being urged to submit their data soon. Khalid Haider Shah praised the efforts of Asif Jan Siddiqui and his team for this milestone achievement. He emphasized that towns delaying data submission must comply immediately to further strengthen local councils and the city’s infrastructure through the combined efforts of the Sindh Government and the World Bank. Additionally, Siddiqui shared that door-to-door data collection for the Urban Immovable Property Tax (UIPT) is progressing steadily.     Former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Abdullah Zaki, has been appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT). A notification from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs announced that the federal government has restructured KPT’s Board of Trustees, as per the Karachi Port Trust Act of 1886. Abdullah Zaki will now represent the Karachi Chamber on the board for the next two years. KCCI’s current President, Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh, congratulated Abdullah Zaki on his appointment, expressing confidence that his vast experience and deep knowledge of port and shipping issues will allow him to effectively address the challenges faced by the business community. In addition to his past role as KCCI President, Abdullah Zaki also serves as the Honorary Consul General of Malawi in Karachi. He has held positions such as Member of the Executive Committee at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), and Chairman of various trade associations. Several major Pakistani companies from the petroleum sector, including OGDCL, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Mari Petroleum, Fauji Fertilizer Company, and Thar Coal Energy Board, are participating in this event to explore investment opportunities with Chinese businesses. During the meetings, Dr. Malik shared Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's vision and promised full support to the companies interested in joint ventures with Pakistani firms, either individually or through partnerships. Key areas of cooperation include oil and gas exploration, upgrading refineries, coal-to-energy conversion, and regasification. He highlighted Pakistan's vast coal reserves and the country’s commitment to using these resources responsibly, with a focus on environmental protection. The production of fertilizer from coal, as well as exploring new technologies for green and blue hydrogen and ammonia production, were also discussed.     Five well-known Iranian Quran reciters arrived in Lahore for a two-day visit, where they received a warm welcome with flower garlands. A special ceremony was held in their honor at the Tahfeez Al-Qur'an Institute in Township, Lahore. The reciters, Qari Hamid Shakir Nerad, Qari Ghulam Raza Qasiman, Qari Muhammad Hussain Azimi Khushroodi, Qari Ahmed Abul Qasimi, and Qari Sana Wahadith Nazari, all participated in the event. They honored the audience by reciting the Holy Quran in their beautiful voices, filling the hearts of the listeners with divine remembrance. Qari Hamid Shakir Nerad especially captivated the audience with his enchanting recitation. The participants felt spiritually uplifted by the recitations.     In his keynote speech on International Science, Technology, and Innovation Day, Minister Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the steps taken by the Pakistani government to boost science and technology and reaffirmed the commitment to turning Pakistan into a modern, tech-driven economy. He made these remarks at the launch of the NICAT (National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies) investment ecosystem, a major event that brought together industry leaders, government officials, investors, and innovative startups. NICAT, in partnership with Ignite National Technology Fund and NASTP (National Aerospace Science and Technology Park), aims to promote technological innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan, especially in the aerospace and tech sectors. During the event, the Minister toured the NICAT facility and saw a display of startups working in aerospace, AI, and IoT. He praised incubation centers like NICAT for helping to create an environment where tech entrepreneurship can grow and attract investment. Attendees included representatives from various organizations and over 20 international partners, reflecting a strong commitment to strengthening Pakistan's tech ecosystem. Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that Pakistan's greatest strength is its youth and encouraged them to pursue their startup ideas with passion. He also pointed out that Pakistani tech entrepreneurs have achieved global success. Drawing examples from top universities like Oxford and MIT, he stressed the need to create a culture of continuous learning and innovation in Pakistan's universities, with a stronger connection between academia and industry. He also discussed the government's key scientific initiatives, including the establishment of national centers for Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Robotics, Big Data, and Genomics, all of which are helping to build a strong scientific environment in the country. The Minister highlighted Pakistan's strategic importance and its achievements, such as becoming the seventh nuclear power and developing advanced aircraft like the JF-17 Thunder.     The Sindh government has announced a new housing project called "Sasti Basti" to help poor people in the province get their own homes. Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister for the Human Settlement Authority, Livestock, and Fisheries, said that the project is being launched to provide affordable housing for those in need. During the 29th Governing Body meeting of the Human Settlement Authority's annual budget on Thursday, which was chaired by Najmi Alam, several officials participated, including MPAs Muhammad Yusuf Baloch and Aruba Rabbani, Mayor of Hyderabad Kashif Shoro, Mayor of Sukkur Barrister Arslan Sheikh, and other key officials. The meeting approved the minutes of the previous meeting and passed the annual budget. Najmi Alam informed the attendees that the "Sasti Basti" project has been approved to provide homes for the poor in Sindh. They also approved the hiring of teams to remove illegal encroachments in the slums of the province.     Today, Muhammad Javed Hanif Khan, a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, and Syed Amin Ul Haque visited schools in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). They were impressed by the new programs introduced by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MOFE PT). The parliamentarians praised the ministry’s efforts, calling them a "great example for other provinces." They stressed the importance of recognizing and supporting the good work being done in ICT schools and suggested expanding these programs to other provinces.
