Boy Scouts of America - Chattanooga (Cherokee Area Council)

Congratulations to Brock of Boy Scout Troop 20 for completing his Eagle Project of refurbishing the JROTC Raiders course at Soddy Daisy High School. It got a proper testing as Soddy High hosted the District competition this past weekend. We love seeing our Scouts making a difference in their community.

Local Scouts helped collect and load more than 121,000 pounds of emergency supplies which are now on the way to hurricane-ravaged Western North Carolina.  Cherokee Area Council Scouts were honored to serve alongside US-101, the Audacy, Inc. family of stations, Local 3 News, Food City / KVAT Foods Inc., Tranco Logistics, the Hamilton County and Catoosa County Sheriff's Departments, and the Cleveland City Police during Operation Good Neighbor. Many Scouting groups worked collecting emergency supplies and loading them onto trucks in Hixson, Ringgold, and Cleveland. Our community’s generosity was on full display completely filling four and half semi-truckloads with items for communities around Asheville, North Carolina. We are extremely proud of our Scouts for honoring their oath to “help other people at all times,” especially in times of need.

6 PALLETS! Amazing job from Troop 1070 in #ringgold coordinating 6 pallets of water to serve our friends in Western North Carolina as they work to dig their way out of devastating flood waters. The 4th Annual Boy Scouts of America - Chattanooga (Cherokee Area Council) Skeet Shoot at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays was a huge success. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the Council's mission: " to prepare young people to make moral and ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law" Congratulations to Jared Pickens and his team on hosting such a great event.

Our 2024 MoonPie fundraiser officially began with Sheriff Austin Garrett and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp receiving the first ceremonial MoonPie boxes! They were joined by the top-selling scouts from last year’s campaign, Sam D. (Troop 223) and Isabel H. (Troop 1076). Full house today at the Chattanooga Audubon Society! Nearly 30 members from the wonderful Orange Grove Center came out to paint replica bird eggs and get out to enjoy the outdoors. www.orangegrovecenter.org

Over 100 Scouts and 50 Leaders paddled their way down the Hiwassee River at this year’s Raft Race. 18 rafts, built using scout skills, and outfitted with creative costumes and decorations, competed for some awesome awards. And everyone had a great, safe float enjoying the amazing weather and outstanding fellowship!

Recruitment season is here! Pack 3411 visited Benton Elementary this week to spread the word about joining Cub Scouts. They sang songs and even had a Pinewood Derby race! Big 'thank you' to Benton Elementary for allowing them to come visit the students.
