Local Scouts helped collect and load more than 121,000 pounds of emergency supplies which are now on the way to hurricane-ravaged Western North Carolina. Cherokee Area Council Scouts were honored to serve alongside US-101, the Audacy, Inc. family of stations, Local 3 News, Food City / KVAT Foods Inc., Tranco Logistics, the Hamilton County and Catoosa County Sheriff's Departments, and the Cleveland City Police during Operation Good Neighbor. Many Scouting groups worked collecting emergency supplies and loading them onto trucks in Hixson, Ringgold, and Cleveland. Our community’s generosity was on full display completely filling four and half semi-truckloads with items for communities around Asheville, North Carolina.
We are extremely proud of our Scouts for honoring their oath to “help other people at all times,” especially in times of need.
