Next up in our Faces of C+FS series is Amber Burhanan, who was recently promoted to Foster Care Supervisor! Throughout her five years at the Agency, Amber has held numerous positions in the Foster Care and Adoption Program including Case Aide, Case Planner and Visitation Team Lead. Amber graduated from Buffalo State University in 2019 with her bachelor's degree in social work and has been working at C+FS ever since. Amber knew she wanted to work in the child welfare field at an early age. "I've always been passionate about working with children," emphasized Amber. "Growing up, I've seen children in my community be removed from their homes and placed in the foster care system. It inspired me to pursue a career in foster care." One of Amber's favorite memories was seeing five siblings get adopted by their foster parents. "Their whole story was heartwarming, and it became my biggest accomplishment as a Case Planner," explained Amber. Thank you, Amber, for your dedication and commitment to reunifying families! We appreciate the hard work you do for the Western New York community!

On #PurpleThursday, Child and Family Services Haven House held our annual press conference, Shine the Light, at the Tribute Garden in Tonawanda. To commemorate #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth, guest speakers described how domestic violence services have a direct impact on the people within our community. We also heard from a survivor, who bravely shared their story about how these services helped them find the courage to escape their abuser. Thank you to all who attended! Thank you to our guest speakers from the following organizations: Erie County District Attorney's Office, Bury The Violence and New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
