Providing Homes... Keeping Brothers and Sisters Together!

About us

Children in Crisis, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of caring people, working together to provide homes and keep brothers and sisters together. We give a home to the abused, neglected, and abandoned children of our community. Before Children in Crisis, there was no Emergency Shelter in Circuit One (which includes Okaloosa, Walton, Escambia, and Santa Rosa Counties in Northwest Florida) for young children removed from an unsafe environment on short notice. Without CIC and the stability it brings, many foster children would be moved from home to home, some as many as ten times per year. We have given a safe, loving home to over 1000 children since 2008. Our neighborhood is growing; our campus is now comprised of an Emergency Shelter, five family foster homes, and our Opportunity Home, consisting of eight studio apartments for the young adults that age out of Foster Care. In addition, we have Kay’s Cupboard, King Whitmire Therapy Center, Clubhouse, and Administrative Offices. Your commitment to helping sustain the operations of the Children’s Neighborhood is vital to our success. We sincerely thank our donors and supporters for building the Children’s Neighborhood. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children. Thank you for supporting our children! Children in Crisis does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

So grateful for the community that supports our organization! Last night, we had our pre-registration party sponsored by Tommy Bahama’s and today, our 17th Annual Golf Tournament at Kelly Plantation. So many people to thank, and they will be mentioned in another post.

Do you have a WHY? Mine is in my personal mission statement: "To live life with integrity, empathy, and humility; be a positive force in the lives of others." So it’s no surprise that my favorite quote is from Dr. Suess on “Responsibility.” “To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.”This is a prime example why I love supporting local organizations that have a like minded mission. The Walton County Kiwanis Club supports children who are less fortunate! Children in Crisis is thankful for their $1000.00 donation that will go towards supporting our Young Adults in our Opportunity Home. Thank you so much for your continued support!

As a Children in Crisis team building event, we were excited to attend the Emerald Coast Exchange Club’s 80’s Murder To The Max Dinner Theater. The National Exchange Club’s primary mission is child abuse prevention. This event was to raise money for scholarships for First Responders and Military Family members. We were able to let our hair down, literally, and have some great fun!! #community #fundraising #support #teambuilding #fun #childabuse #firstresponders

Today we participated in the Navarre Chamber of Commerce Breakfast meeting. This is our 5th Chamber meeting throughout our circuit where we have been able to discuss the mission of Children in Crisis. During the invocation, the pastor spoke of Opportunity, Challenges, Possibilities, all the things that we at Children in Crisis provide our children for a brighter future. We will wrap our Chamber Rodeo in Walton County on October 9th.

Today we remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001. The worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. We honor the many brave first responders and others who risked their lives saving others! Today I attended the Walton Chamber of Commerce special 9/11 event at the South Walton County Fire District. Thankful for all men and women who wear the uniform that serve our communities! #honor #firefighters #lawenforcement #SouthWaltonFireDistrict #community #support

Although it was a short week by the number of days, it was a long week by the number of hours! We were blessed again this week with a substantial donation, stay tuned to next week when I reveal! Wednesday we had our interview with Rik Wolfe of K-Rock to talk about Children in Crisis and our upcoming events that include a K-Rock sponsored car show and our upcoming Sugar Sands Golf Tournament. This week we started what I like to call our Chamber Rodeo Spotlight Events! We hit 2 out of the six this week! The ladies (Megan, Danna, Dakota, and Sarah) and myself attended the Crestview Chamber on Thursday and then (Josh, Danna, Melissa, and Dr. June Linke) and myself attend the Pensacola Chamber this morning. Yesterday we were also able to squeeze in our pickup from Amazon. All-in-All, it was another great week at Children in Crisis!! #community #donation #Amazon #Chamberofcommerce #support #team #children #family
