Strong families are the foundation of a thriving community. The Children’s Trust is committed to strengthening families through the Protective Factors framework—a research-backed approach proven to support the well-being of children and parents. These five Protective Factors are key to helping families thrive: - Parental Resilience: developing the ability to cope and bounce back from life’s challenges - Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development: receiving accurate information about raising young children, and learning appropriate and effective strategies to gauge expectations and set limits on child behaviors - Social Connections: engaging friends, family members, neighbors, and others in the community who may provide emotional support and assistance - Concrete Support in Times of Need: accessing life essentials such as food, clothing, and housing when there is an immediate need - Social and Emotional Development of Children: fostering a child’s ability to interact positively with others and communicate his or her emotions appropriately #childrenstrust #childrenstrustma #trust4kids #parenting #families #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #massachusetts

Congratulations to our Healthy Families of Berkshire County partners who received this year's Public Relations Award at our annual Celebration Day. Celebration Day celebrates the work and accomplishments of Children’s Trust program partners and family support professionals across Massachusetts. Healthy Families of Berkshire County was recognized for their Step Up for Kids event, which raised awareness about child abuse and neglect prevention with the help of local legislators. The event featured 56 pairs of shoes on Pittsfield City Hall steps, representing the average number of children with confirmed abuse and neglect cases each month in Berkshire County. In 2022, there were 49,449 reported suicides in the U.S. — a devastating and underreported number. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among youth ages 14-18, but it’s preventable. Join us at A View from All Sides for a critical conversation with Michaela Gagne, LMHC, MA, CAGS, Director of Mental Health Initiatives at United Neighbors of Fall River. Michaela will discuss the reality of suicide, its impact across demographics, and the steps we can all take to help prevent it. This is just one of our VIRTUAL sessions! The Children’s Trust partners with state and local organizations to bring the Nurturing Fathers Program to Massachusetts communities. Through our recent partnership with Pondville Correctional Center in Norfolk, we're thrilled to share that nine fathers have successfully completed the 13-week Nurturing Fathers Program. This program focuses on positive, strength-based parenting, helping dads develop the attitudes and behaviors needed for healthy family relationships.
