Discover your future at our diversity career fair! Meet Reahna, a former certified nursing assistant and nursing student who discovered her passion for pediatric care at our last Diversity Career Fair. Here's what she had to say: “I was looking for something new in the health care field and always thought about working with children. Seeing the diversity job fair post on social media, I decided to attend. The people at the fair were so nice and informative, and meeting the person who would be my manager was a turning point. She was sweet, caring and genuinely interested in my future plans. Hearing about the different units and support for students convinced me this was the place to grow and excel.” Reahna’s advice to you? "GET UP AND GO! You won't be disappointed. It’s been almost a year since I joined Children’s Wisconsin, and I absolutely love it. The staff is amazing, and the opportunities motivate me to finish my nursing degree." Take advantage of this chance to explore a fulfilling career in pediatric care! Date: Wednesday, Sept. 18 Time: 2-7 p.m. Location: Flores Hall 2997 S. 20th St., Milwaukee, WI 53215 We can’t wait to meet you! To register and learn more, click the link. https://lnkd.in/g2G7N_Tn

When an organization invests in its staff, it creates a culture where employees feel supported, nurtured and cared for. That’s exactly what the Medical Assistant (MA) Grow Our Own program does at Children’s Wisconsin. The MA Grow Our Own is a training program that allows Children’s Wisconsin employees to earn a medical assistant diploma — tuition free — through Herzing University. While continuing to work at Children’s Wisconsin, eligible staff are able to learn new skills and advance their career in as little as 10 months. Read this blog post to learn more about the MA Grow Our Own Program and how Children’s Wisconsin empowers its staff. https://lnkd.in/gR3BWiza

Just like fingerprints, no two people are exactly alike. And neither are their heart defects. That simple idea inspired Dr. Joy Lincoln, director of cardiovascular research at the Herma Heart Institute, Dr. Michael Mitchell, surgical director at the Herma Heart Institute, and Dr. Aoy Tomita-Mitchell, investigator at the Children's Research Institute, to spearhead work into cardiac precision medicine. “The typical approach to medicine has been to take the ‘one size fits all’ treatment strategy, but this does not benefit everyone,” said Dr. Lincoln. “We tailor-make suits to fit the individual wearing them, so for the same reason, we should tailor treatment plans for each person’s disease or defect.” Read this blog post to learn how Dr. Lincoln, Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Tomita-Mitchell, and their colleagues at Children’s Wisconsin, are using precision medicine to improve heart care for kids. https://lnkd.in/gAArqjJP
