Chicago's independent community radio station
About us
107.1FM CHIRP Radio is a volunteer-driven, community radio station that focuses on music, arts, and culture. We are live and local every day of the year from 6am-midnight from our studios in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood, and the city we live in is a key part of everything we do. CHIRP Radio plays a wide mix of local, independent, lesser-heard, and just generally good music from a variety of genres and eras. CHIRP DJs are true music fans who love to share their discoveries, new and old, with listeners. The station also features conversations with artists, activists, and other people doing interesting work, and our features department produces pieces highlighting Chicago’s diverse voices and stories. CHIRP also has worked hard to encourage the federal government to remove existing barriers to the granting of low power FM (LPFM) radio licenses in urban areas, including Chicago. The Local Community Radio Act, a bill passionately supported by CHIRP, became law in 2010, and has resulted in more than 750 new community radio stations across the country. CHIRP launched its terrestrial broadcast at 107.1FM in October 2017. CHIRP is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization funded primarily through individual giving, special event revenues, and grant support.

The silent portion of CHIRP's fall fundraiser is underway! We have a $48,000 goal this September, but we're working to raise $10,000 before the drive hits the airwaves next week. That way, we can keep the on-air drive short and sweet. Give today: chirpradio.org/donatenow CHIRP is live, local, and listener-supported. We are 100% independent, and your generous donations make everything we do possible. Thanks so much for your belief in our work. We're proud to be your independent community radio station.

It's the CHIRP spring fundraising drive, and we're working on our largest-ever goal: $50,000. In addition to helping us cover the basic costs of running the station, your donations this spring will also support major upgrades of both our studios for the first time in our 14 year history. chirpradio.org/donatenow Today is $10 Day in the drive, a day where we ask everyone who believes in our work to give $10. Why not forego tomorrow's fancy coffee and support local community radio instead? We are so grateful for your support, and every dollar makes a difference. Able to do more? Consider becoming a $10 monthly sustainer. Thanks so much for your generosity.
