  • Exciting news! Community Human Services has been named one of Pittsburgh's Top Workplaces 2024!  We’re proud to rank #15 among organizations with fewer than 150 staff members. This honor reflects our team's dedication and the people-first culture we've built at CHS. What makes it even more special is that this award is based entirely on employee feedback! Our team’s commitment to supporting the community and each other drives everything we do. Here’s to more growth, more impact, and continuing to make a difference together!

  • #ThrowbackThursday to last year’s The Big Share, our largest annual fundraiser that supports CHS' Oakland Food Pantry. In Pennsylvania, 12.5% of the population is experiencing food insecurity, and within the City of Pittsburgh, that number rises to 21%. Two years ago, we saw a surge in need following the reduction of SNAP benefits, but this past year, the impact has been compounded by other economic factors. The cost of living, especially groceries, has skyrocketed. While long-term solutions to food insecurity require systemic change, our neighbors need resources now. CHS' Oakland Food Pantry has been, and will continue to be, a lifeline within the community—providing fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, non-perishables, and meat or fish options to those in need. This year’s The Big Share will be held on October 4th at Tree Pittsburgh, with proceeds directly funding our food pantry. Our goal is to raise $60,000—and with your help, we can make it happen! Tickets are now live—get yours using the link below! https://lnkd.in/emDJGSWu

  • Our staff showed up in full force for the 2024 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk—supporting the event in more ways than one! Check this out. A group of our team proudly wore their CHS shirts as they joined hundreds of others for the walk, celebrating recovery and supporting harm reduction principles. Meanwhile, Kayla, our Director of Shelter, brought the energy as a member of the Eagleburger Band, performing live along the route and joining the crowd for the post-walk dance party. Finally, we're beyond thrilled to announce that our very own Melissa was honored with the Recovery Caregiver Award during the 2024 Recovery Awards Celebration! We couldn’t be prouder of our team for coming together in support of recovery!

  • We are ONE MONTH AWAY from CHS' most anticipated event of the year- The Big Share! As we count down the days, let’s take a moment to reflect on the history and purpose of The Big Share. What began as a mission to support the Food Pantry has grown into a vital effort to address food insecurity in Pittsburgh, where 1 in 5 residents struggle with access to healthy, adequate, or culturally appropriate foods. CHS' Food Pantry has risen to meet this challenge, with a 112% increase in services over the past year alone, serving 5,873 unduplicated individuals and families 187,385 pounds of food! To continue meeting this unprecedented demand, The Big Share is aiming to raise $60,000. Join us in making a difference—secure your ticket today using the link below! https://lnkd.in/emDJGSWu
