At 'Navigating Emerging Technologies: AI for Security / Security for AI,' Amy Gerrie hosted a panel session featuring Cisco Vice President Yaron Singer and Prasad Parthasarathi. During the discussion, Prasad shared six reasons why organizations need a purpose-built stack rather than retrofitting existing systems.👇 1️⃣ Many of us have grown up in an IT environment where we've been accustomed to the notion of a data plane and control plane. You could spin up IT instances anywhere in your IT estate, but they could all be provisioned, managed, and secured from a centralized, unified control plane. That notion disappears with AI and ML models. Think of them as microcomputers with their own minds and no control plane to govern them. 2️⃣ The user set is much more diverse and varied compared to earlier technologies. Adoption goes beyond traditional developers and engineers into realms of functional teams like IT, finance, HR, and sales. These user groups come with their own philosophies around security and compliance, which poses a challenge. 3️⃣ Open source forms a massive underpinning for models. While it has great virtues, it also brings blind spots and vulnerabilities outside the control of a central CISO. 4️⃣ The upgrade cycle is unprecedented. Large models, synthetic data, and RAG engine use cases get upgraded and transformed in weeks, if not days. This means we enter uncharted territory every month. 5️⃣ The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for security and compliance blind spots without having "control" for many elements. 6️⃣ To keep pace with the rapid AI/ML upgrade cycle, we require a purpose-built AI security stack that is self-healing. 📽️ Watch the full session: https://hubs.ly/Q02VT_mR0 #CiscoInvests
