The Citadel EHS Summer Family and Fun Fest took place at the beautiful Newport Dunes again this year and it was a blast! A day filled with sunshine, laughter, and great memories. California's New Indoor Heat Illness Prevention Rule: Summary & Compliance Steps California's new Indoor Heat Illness Prevention Rule aims to protect workers from the dangers of excessive indoor heat. The rule, in effect as of July 23rd, mandates specific measures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, focusing on temperature monitoring, access to cooldown areas, proper ventilation, hydration, and employee training. Compliance Steps for Employers: Temperature Monitoring: Regularly check and document indoor temperatures to identify heat risks. The regulations apply when the temperature equals or exceeds 82 degrees Fahrenheit indoors, and lower when required heavier safety equipment is worn. Cool-Down Areas: Provide accessible areas where employees can take breaks to cool down. Ventilation: Ensure the workplace has adequate ventilation systems to control indoor temperatures effectively. Hydration: Supply sufficient drinking water, ensuring it is easily accessible to all employees. Training: Educate employees on the risks of heat illness, preventive measures, and emergency procedures.
