We catalyze change in communities to solve the most pressing challenges of today and to build resilience for the future.
About us
Our work is anchored in knowledge gained in the development of the urban resilience movement, bringing together a diverse set of skills across government, civil society and the private sector. We believe that resilience thinking combined with courageous leadership and radical collaboration will make cities stronger, more equitable and ultimately more resilient for current and future generations. RCC will help cities identify areas of opportunities, address them through innovative design, and implement solutions. We will do this through three core program offerings: 1. Resilience Roadmaps to create enabling environments for investment and action through participatory resilience assessment and planning processes. 2. Project Incubators to design projects that maximize resilience impact, ensuring cities and communities have access to the technical, financial, and project preparation expertise required to move from concept to implementation. 3. Catalyst Labs to facilitate the next generation of solutions and create new communities of practice in the urban resilience field. Cities represent our greatest opportunity for impact, while also posing significant risks with exposure to future shocks and stresses. We hope through RCC we can work with many of you to help cities achieve the change they desperately need.

RCC's Neighborhood Climate Resilience Program (NCRP) is thrilled to share that the Rainwater Capture Pilot in Iztapalapa, Mexico City, is now up and running! After almost a year of collaboration with the Neighborhood Assembly of Miravalle, we inaugurated the project during the Water Day Event, showcasing how public spaces can be transformed to improve community-wide water access. This pilot revived a defunct rainwater filter and reservoir in a central public space, turning it into a fully functioning water-harvesting canopy and tank system with expanded capacity for recreation and sanitation. The surrounding area was also redesigned with new amenities to host social gatherings, cultural events, and water-based recreation, fostering community belonging and enhancing overall well-being through deeper connections with natural systems. During the event, our partners from ORU - Oficina de Resiliencia Urbana, Agencia Barrio, and the CDMX SGIRPC led interactive, educational activities for kids and adults, highlighting the importance of water in the region. Members of a local cultural collective also hosted a Temazcal Ceremony—a traditional religious practice honoring indigenous peoples. This pilot project is part of our broader Neighborhood Climate Resilience Program, which supports bottom-up resilience efforts in 8 cities worldwide! As Giving Tuesday approaches, we invite you to join us in empowering more communities like Iztapalapa to tackle climate challenges head-on. Your support fuels projects that enhance lives, strengthen neighborhoods, and build a more resilient future. #CommunityResilience #ClimateAction #WaterConservation #PublicSpaces #RCC #GivingTuesday

Amid the buzz of Climate Week NYC last month, the RCC team took a moment for much-needed learning and reflection at our staff retreat. We came together for strategy sessions, creative team-building (including some fun pipe-cleaner art!), and thoughtful discussions on how to strengthen and advance resilience efforts as we face evolving climate challenges. Along the way, we also enjoyed a Resilience Happy Hour, celebrating with fellow climate practitioners and appreciating the community driving resilience forward. Check out some highlights from the retreat!

great interview for Climate Week, Martin Pedersen ... I really enjoyed this Q&A with Sam Carter of Resilient Cities Catalyst.
To celebrate Climate Week, we talked with #SamCarter, one of the founding principles of #ResilientCitiesCatalyst. A very smart look at an important climate planning approach: "But we exist, I hope, in a kind of transitional moment, where we’re trying to shift practice from one way of thinking, which is very narrow: I do transportation, I do health, I do education. We’ve traditionally worked in silos, but now, with the pressures our systems are under, we can’t think that way anymore..." https://lnkd.in/evUVtECz

A big thanks to those who’ve already registered for our Climate Week Keynote – "Resilience Leadership in Practice: Notes from the Field." If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to secure your spot for this robust dialogue on resilience and capacity building. Register here: ow.ly/fe1o50T6sT9 Session Spotlight: Project Development and Implementation to Build Local Capacity ⚒ In this keynote session, we’ll discuss how data-driven tools like Google's Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE) are empowering local leaders to make informed decisions. EIE is just one part of our broader strategy at Resilient Cities Catalyst, where we work with communities to design and implement key resilience projects. Together, we’re building local capacity to drive long-term change. Featured projects include: 🌳 Pittsburgh Tree Project: EIE guides urban tree planting in vulnerable areas, enhancing resilience to heat and pollution. 🌡 Austin: Data for Urban Resilience: EIE maps heat and tree coverage, targeting the hottest neighborhoods for planting. 💡 ICLEI USA Scaling Climate Action: Cities like Denver and the SF Bay Area use EIE to cut emissions and advance equitable electrification.
