Did you know?  1 in 10 ER and Urgent Care patients said that they would follow what they read on the internet even if it contradicts their doctor.  Patients also said that they believed 97% of people are self-diagnosing based on what they’ve read on the internet. As the internet grows in influence on patients, healthcare companies can respond by creating blogs and increasing their social media presence to become a trusted source of information even before they are an in-person source.  Maybe it’s easier to be honest with an impersonal search bar, but at Citra we are proud to create personal connections with each patient in order to give them the reliable care they deserve.  Do you find yourself trusting the internet over a healthcare professional?

“My grandma taught me that some people are not going to have individuals in their corner cheering them on, and it’s our job to be everyone’s biggest cheerleader. And so, I walk throughout life trying to be the biggest cheerleader for others. In the clinic, patients come in and aren’t feeling great but if you treat them like you’re on their team, then they walk out feeling so accepted and so taken care of. We want them to walk out feeling better all around, not just physically but emotionally & mentally as well. I remind myself of that- that everyone needs a cheerleader on their side and a lot of people don’t have it.” Citra nurse practitioner Lisa Burch told us some of her top life lessons last week. Now, we’re looking for ways to cheer everyone on! Do you remember the last time someone acted as your cheerleader?

Meet Amanda Barragan, a provider at our North Dallas clinic! Her passion for helping others motivated her to join the healthcare industry. While the more intense parts of working in an ER/Trauma field may deter some people, Amanda actually enjoys helping patients in the emergency environment and worked as an ER/trauma nurse for 8 years earlier in her career. Citra’s core value: “Do the Right Thing” resonates with her the most. She aims to honor that motto daily, in both her personal and professional life.

Effective communication plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of any team. Recently, all members of our care team participated in the Culture Index Survey to gain insights into our individual personality traits, both in personal and professional contexts. The outcomes of this assessment empower us to enhance our communication by understanding and adapting to the diverse behavior styles within the team. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact of these survey results on our ability to foster connections among team members and elevate the quality of care we provide to our patients.
