City Fields hosted our first annual Fall Fest 5K to promote a more connected Blythe Oldfield neighborhood to the rest of our City. The community showed up for this effort in a tangible way: running and walking through our neighborhood. Welcome to the team! 🎉 We are excited to welcome our newest addition to the team, Anna Barbosa. Anna is an AmeriCorps VISTA, and will be serving with us for the next year to develop sustainable solutions through community engagement initiatives. She shares her purpose behind joining this work: "I want to be involved in my community more - especially in overlooked neighborhoods where there is a large Hispanic and Latino population." Her perspective, skillset, and personality are already proving incredibly valuable in our work to cultivate overlooked places. 10 Years of City Fields 🎉 We had a wonderful All-Star Fundraiser with our City Fields friends and family this past Saturday. It was a festive celebration of 10 years of work, and we welcomed our special guest, Brian Jordan: former All-Star player with the Atlanta Braves and an All-Pro selection with the Atlanta Falcons. Your support helped us raise $32,180.87 to "Create a Pathway" for a sustainable future for our neighbors in East Cleveland. COMING SOON: Plumbing as a new Career Track 🛁 We are excited to announce the launch of plumbing bootcamps in collaboration with Cleveland State Community College. This addition to our workforce training options is huge 1) because there is a big need for plumbers in our local workforce 2) this training will lead to a career at a livable wage creating long-term financial stability. Whether our participants are overcoming substance abuse, incarceration, or a lack of opportunity, they deserve a second chance. Restoring a sense of hope shows our students that they don't have to fall back into damaging cycles - they have the potential to overcome and ultimately to flourish. This comprehensive 3-week program is designed to provide participants with practical, hands-on training, culminating in three nationally-recognized NC3 Ridgid certifications.
