The Oregonian just honored the Albany Police Department with a Top Workplaces 2024 Award! Tonight at the Riverfront Community Center we had the opportunity to recognize the work of the dozens of volunteer members of our 17 citizen advisory groups who advise City Council on a number of topics. We’d especially like to recognize Leesa Bright who was named the Citizen Advisory Group Volunteer of the Year! Leesa is currently the Vice Chair of the Arts Commission. Although she was unable to attend due to illness, a crowd of about 80 helped recognize her dedicated efforts, enthusiastic attitude, and delight to tackle new challenges. Albany's water system recently had its three-year inspection by the Oregon Health Authority, the state’s regulatory body for public drinking water systems. We’re very proud to achieve the status of “Outstanding Performance” as a drinking water provider. This is difficult to achieve; it requires a near flawless inspection of both water treatment plants, drinking water reservoirs, and all pertinent records, as well as the accumulation of no more than three points against the system over the past three years. This means no violations and minimal errors. For many years we’ve come close but haven’t been able to achieve Outstanding Performance, until now. This designation recognizes the meticulous, hard work that our staff, like Matt Grudzinski, devote to providing the highest quality drinking water for our community every day.
