Did you know that October is National Community Planning Month? Mayor Kevin Hartke issued a proclamation at yesterday's City Council meeting highlighting the importance of community planning and its benefits. Our Planning Team also was recognized for their commitment to thoughtful planning and their role in creating a thriving city. During the presentation, Planning Administrator Kevin Mayo thanked the Council for their support and shared that a career in Planning is never boring. He had a trivia question — asking which of the following questions have planners been asked by customers? A. Can I run a colon cleansing business from my home? B. Can my child have a therapy chicken? C. What are the rules to sell shrimp from the back of my pickup truck? D. Is my property zoned for a body donation business? If you guessed "all of the above" — ding, ding, ding — you're right! This barely scratches the surface of what this Planning Team gets to help customers with on a daily basis. Congratulations to this hardworking team! Positive interactions with our Chandler residents can be memorable. (Especially if you're a kid who loves motorcycles.) While dining at the Hangar Café, Officer Brian and Officer Bradley visited with Chandler resident Raul's children. After their meal, the officers invited the children to sit on their motorcycles and spent more time speaking with them about their jobs. Raul let us know how grateful he was that Officers Brian and Bradley took the time out of their day to spend with his children. They talked about it all day! Thank you, Officer Brian and Officer Bradley, for your professionalism and compassion when engaging with our community! Chandler Police Department - AZ | #ChandlerAZ #TeamChandler #ChandlerPolice

Today is a big day here in Chandler, Arizona as our first Trader Joe's location is officially open!🙌 In Economic Development, we are often thinking about what site selectors and business decision makers want in a community and there are a multitude of things that are frequently changing. On the flip side, our residents have for years made it very clear what they want and it's Trader Joe's, Trader Joe's, and Trader Joe's. This new store is probably not going to land on Area Development's projects of the year list, but it is a major quality of life win for City of Chandler, Arizona. 📍 3961 S Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85248 (Northeast corner of Arizona Ave & Ocotillo Rd) #TraderJoes #ChandlerAZ #QualityofLife #TraderJoesChandler #NowOpen #ShopLocal #ChooseChandler #EconDev #siteselection #LiveWorkPlay #ChandlerAZ #economicdevelopment #businesslocation
