October is National Community Planning Month, which allows us to recognize our dedicated Planning staff at the City of Claremont! Our Planning Division staff works to improve the lives of all who live, work, and play here. They do an amazing job of updating and administering our Zoning Codes and General Plan to guide and implement future development of the City. In addition, they provide information and assistance to the public on the City's planning process, analyze land use and development proposals from an environmental, zoning, land use, and design standpoint, monitor sub-regional and regional planning efforts and policies, and inspect construction to ensure compliance with planning regulations and conditions of approval. Meet Robin! Robin Heydman is the Administrative Assistant in our Community Services Department and has worked for the City for just over one year. Robin started as a part-time Clerical Assistant, then quickly promoted to full-time Administrative Assistant in the department. The Community Services Department handles the City’s Sanitation, Maintenance, Motor Fleet, Cemetery, and Urban Forest Management Divisions. Robin provides administrative support for the department and is the initial point of contact for residents. She also assists with processing invoices and creating contracts with vendors and contractors that do work for and within the City. In her free time, Robin loves spending time with her two kids, who are full of energy and love to go on walks and go to the park. She says they have even enjoyed checking out the different parks in Claremont. When she has time to herself, she enjoys listening to music and cooking. Robin says, “The best part of my job is being able to interact with a wide variety of people (residents and other City employees) and learn about the City dynamics. I have learned so much this past year about so many different things.”

Today, Claremont Police Department staff hosted Critical Incident Training for City Hall staff. After a brief presentation and Q&A, staff walked through the building to go over evacuation/escape routes and places to shelter, and to learn other strategies for dealing with an emergency situation. Thank you to our PD staff for conducting this very important training for our staff. #safety #training
