Edmond Mobile Meals celebrated a return to its 3rd Street location with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 25. The non-profit charitable organization worked temporarily out of the Senior Center while a $1.3 million renovation – paid for by city and county ARPA funds and Edmond Mobile Meals funding – was completed. The project more than tripled the capacity for the organization, which has operated independently since 1974 providing nourishing meals to elderly and disabled persons who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Thanks to staff and an army of committed volunteers, Edmond Mobile Meals prepares more than 300 meals per day. As important, delivering the meals often provides daily contact by caring volunteers and allows many of the city’s elderly and homebound persons to remain independent and in their own homes.
