In-person, early voting has begun! Edmond residents can vote at the Multi-Activity Center (MAC) in Mitch Park beginning today. Polls will be open: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 30 to November 1 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 2 – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ll see three Edmond on the GO – a General Obligation (GO) Bond program – propositions on your ballot. GO Bonds are a common funding method used by cities to address critical infrastructure needs. CITY COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHT: An agreement between the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), the City of Edmond, and the Edmond Public Works Authority (EPWA) was approved at the City Council Meeting on Monday, Oct. 28 for the creation of a recycling center for staff, student, and public use. The new recycling center will be located on the UCO campus and allow for the drop off of cardboard, plastics #1 & #2, paper, glass, and aluminum.

Mayor Darrell Davis addresses a common question we’ve heard from Edmond residents – “How were these projects selected?” Edmond on the GO, a General Obligation Bond program, would fund the highest priority improvements Edmond residents expect. The program includes 22 projects in three categories - streets, parks, and fire safety. A 25-member citizen’s advisory task force, appointed by City Council, met over the summer to determine the proposed projects. The group also recommended a citizen’s oversight committee be named, should voters approve the program. If approved by voters, Edmond on the GO will add 20 intersections to Edmond’s Intelligent Traffic System (ITS). The General Obligation Bond on the ballot November 5 expands ITS – a system that uses real time technology to improve traffic flow and safety during heavy traffic periods, emergencies, and construction and maintenance activities. A team of 8 linemen from Edmond Electric recently traveled to the City of Lakeland, Florida, providing much-needed assistance to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Milton. Our crew worked in flooded and dangerous conditions to help bring back power to Lakeland residents. Thank you Edmond Electric for helping out those in need.
