El Centro Police arrest juvenile in connection to threat at Central Union High School. A search of the minor’s personal property and residence was conducted with the assistance of the minor’s parents. The El Centro Police Department is aware of a safety concern related to one of our local high schools that was posted on social media yesterday. We are working with school administrators to ensure the safety of our children, staff, and the public. Although we are working to determine the credibility of the posting, we ask that if you see something of concern, report it to school officials or the Police Department immediately.

The El Centro Fire Department recently embarked on an emergency education collaboration with Southwest High School. Southwest High School, led by teacher Arturo Vasquez and Principal Joe Derma, has initiated a Teen Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) with the objective of providing our community youth with the tools necessary to help themselves and those they care for during emergency incidents.
