Laredo Public Health Department Awarded State Funding to Support Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Initiatives Laredo, Texas – The City of Laredo Public Health Department is proud to announce it has been awarded the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) grant by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). This critical funding will enable Laredo Public Health to promote early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and related dementias in the Laredo community, as well as expand its services by offering education, support, and referrals to caregivers and individuals living with ADRD. All activities supported by this grant will align with the Healthy Brain Initiative, State and Local Road Map for Public Health 2023-2027, which aims to increase the capacity to address ADRD in the Laredo area. The funding will enhance public education on ADRD topics and strengthen community-clinical linkages among health providers, agencies, and community-based organizations. Laredo Public Health is also currently developing a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) focused on Alzheimer’s disease. This assessment aims to address the unique needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s, including those newly diagnosed, managing chronic conditions, or at high genetic risk. The CHNA will highlight available resources, caregiver support services, healthcare options, and community-based support for both patients and families. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days on how to participate and support this important survey. Laredo Public Health is excited to expand its services and offer much-needed care and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The program, funded in part by the Texas Department of State Health Services, will allow the City of Laredo Public Health Department to further its mission to safeguard and promote the health and well-being of the community, addressing a critical public health issue that affects an increasing number of residents. #ALzheimers #AlzheimersDiseaseAndRelatedDementias #ADRD #Grant #TexasDepartmentOfStateHealthServices #DSHS #LaredoPublicHealth #Funding #Program #CaregiverSupport #Resources #LaredoCommunity #CHNA #CommunityHealthNeedsAssessment #Awarded
