After a VERY successful Community Service Day, let's keep the spirit of volunteerism alive! Join us on Saturday, Oct. 19, between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. and help pick up litter along Las Positas Road and First Street. We'll have City staff in the parking lot near Big 5 Sporting Goods ready with garbage bags, litter sticks and safety vests to hand out to community members interested in helping to keep our City clean and beautiful! Volunteers can show up anytime between 9 and 11 a.m. And if you can't make it on Oct. 19, no worries! We will have other opportunities throughout the year. This is part of our "Volunteer 3-6-5" initiative that encourages year-round volunteerism in Livermore. From picking up litter, to abating graffiti, to participating in our various advisory bodies and community academies, Livermore community members are encouraged to help keep Livermore beautiful and give back to the City! Today, September 11, 2024, marks the 23rd anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, where we remember the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. As part of our national observance of Patriot Day, the City of Livermore lowers flags to half-staff in honor of those who perished on that fateful day and in the years since. We encourage all Livermore community members to reflect on the significance of Patriot Day and remember the bravery and sacrifice of so many.
