🌟 Weekly Round-Up: Celebrating Leadership, Community Impact, and Awareness! 🌟 This week in Memphis was filled with achievements, recognition, and important causes: Gold Path Celebration Luncheon: We celebrated the first class of Gold Path graduates! This program equips high school seniors with the skills to become top-notch Emergency Response Call Operators. After weeks of classroom and on-the-job training, they’re ready to serve our community. 📞🎓 EDGE Awards: At the 2nd Annual EDGE Awards and Community Recognition Breakfast, both Mayor Young and Mayor Lee Harris were honored with the Leadership Award, recognizing their dedication to advancing our city. 🏆👏 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk: The Lucille McWherter Senior Center walked in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🌟 Thank You, Memphis! 🌟 During the last 9 days of September, Memphis Animal Services welcomed 188 dogs—111 from animal control and 70 from caring citizens. This brought our total to over 315 dogs in a facility designed for only 185 permanent kennels. We put out an urgent call for help, and the City answered! In the first 9 days of October, 120 dogs found their forever homes, 5 went to loving foster homes, and 40 were taken in by rescue groups. Another 11 dogs were reunited with their owners. As of this morning, our number of dogs has dropped to 253! While we’re still over capacity, we’re truly making progress. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who shared our posts, volunteered, and especially to those who adopted, fostered, or rescued. Your support means the world to us and the animals we care for. Let’s keep working together to create brighter futures for these furry friends! ❤️🐾

🌟 Weekly Round-Up: Celebrating Community Service, Honoring Heroes, and Supporting Education! 🌟 This week in Memphis was filled with community spirit, heartfelt tributes, and educational engagement: Private School Leadership Q&A: Mayor Young had an insightful Q&A with the Heads of Memphis private schools at Bornblum Jewish Community School, discussing education and the future of our youth. 🗣️🎓 Honoring First Responders: During the Memphis vs. MTSU football game, families of first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored during a special time-out tribute. We are forever grateful for their service and sacrifice. 🚓🚒❤️ National Public Lands Day: Over 80 volunteers and staff came together for a successful cleanup at Gooch and University Park! Youth from the City of Memphis Office of Youth Services, along with students from the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers University, helped make a difference in keeping our parks beautiful. 🌳🤝 Inspiring the Next Generation: A big thanks to Mrs. Currie and Collegiate School of Memphis for inviting the Office of Youth Services to speak during chapel day.
