Government Administration

About us

Pekin is administered by a Council-Manager form of government, with a seven-person City Council. The council consists of a Mayor, elected at large to a four-year term, and six Council Members elected at large to four-year terms. The City Council decides the direction they would like to see the city move and determines any goals they would like to see accomplished. The City Manager is the administrative head of the municipal government and, therefore, is responsible for the efficient administration of all departments and the effective implementation of the policies articulated by the council.
