About us

Ridgefield is located along the I-5 corridor in northwest Clark County, Washington. Our city is notable for the significant Native American and Lewis and Clark Expedition history of the area, but is also the home of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, a primary reserve for migrating waterfowl on the Pacific Flyway, and the Ridgefield High School "Spudders" (reflecting the area's potato-farming heritage). Whether you are looking for a day trip getaway, a business friendly city for your company, or a vibrant community to call your home, Ridgefield has opportunities for everyone. City Council Appoints Rian Davis to Fill Vacant Position At their meeting on Thursday, October 10, Ridgefield City Council appointed Rian Davis to fill a mid-term vacancy after a rigorous and competitive process that included a detailed application, public forum, multiple opportunities for public input and interviews with City Council. Council thanked both candidates for their time in this vacancy appointment process, their care and commitment to Ridgefield and for stepping up to this important role. Council member Davis is an 8th grade history and language arts teacher and coaches middle school cross country and high school swim. He has volunteered on the Ridgefield Parks Board since 2018, serving as chair since January 2023. Davis has also spent time on his HOA Board, serving as Ridgefield representative on the Clark County Mosquito Control District Board of Trustees, and been active in Ridgefield Little League as a coach and Board member. When asked why he was interested in serving on City Council Davis wrote on his application, “My desire to serve on the Ridgefield City Council is driven by maintaining and growing the community culture that makes our city special.” After appointment, Davis took the Oath of Office and attended the regular Council meeting. The term for Position 6 will expire in 2025. Welcome to City Council Rian!

Good jobs change lives, and all workers—including disabled workers—deserve the opportunity to prepare for, obtain and succeed in them. Reflecting this, “Access to Good Jobs for All” is this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM) theme. Earlier this week, we turned up the heat at our annual Employee Appreciation Lunch with a sizzling Chili Cook-Off! The competition was fierce, but our top three chefs took home the gold, silver, and bronze for their delicious creations. We also took a moment to recognize the dedication and hard work of our amazing staff, presenting service awards to five employees who celebrated their 5-year milestone and four who celebrated 10-years. Big thanks to all our team members for making Ridgefield a fantastic place to live, work and play!

We are so proud of our employee team, the Ridgefield Road Runners, for completing the 2024 Hood to Coast relay this past weekend! Over the course of just over 32 hours, the team collectively ran 195.68 miles, traveling from Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, to the coastline beach in Seaside. Each of the 12 runners ran three legs, varying in distance from 3.76 to 7.72 miles. Ultimately, they crushed it and finished 49 minutes ahead of anticipated - still smiling. Please join us in congratulating them on their accomplishment! They didn't do it alone - two volunteer drivers transported the team between exchanges and the Hood to Coast relay requires each team to provide three volunteers to work at race exchanges, start or finish line, and key safety monitoring spots along the route. Finally, the team had support from a coordinator who organized meetings, did research and helped to figure out all of the logistics for the "Mother of All Relays." Thank you to all of the volunteers, friends, family and community members who helped get the Ridgefield Road Runners over the finish line.

We're committed to the safety and well-being of Ridgefield! Recently, 15 of our staff members attended First Aid CPR and AED training at the Clark County Fire District 5 Public Education Training Center. This training equips our team to provide first aid, CPR, and use an AED in a safe, timely and effective manner, ensuring we're prepared to act in emergencies. In addition to training, the City has placed Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in each city building and every police vehicle. A huge thank you to our staff who voluntarily participated in this training for their dedication to keeping their fellow employees, families and community safe. Knowing CPR and First Aid empowers individuals to respond effectively in critical moments, potentially saving lives.
