🌟 October is National Community Planning Month – a time to recognize the outstanding efforts of the San Marcos Planning and Development Services team in shaping our city’s future. In 2021, the City of San Marcos was honored with two APA Planning Achievement Awards for the Downtown Design Project, and most recently, in 2024, we received the prestigious Richard R. Lillie Planning Excellence Recognition. ✨ In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we're proud to celebrate the leadership of Stephanie Reyes, the first Latina and first woman to serve as City Manager in San Marcos, Texas. With over 22 years of dedicated service, she remains committed to her hometown and draws inspiration from the resilient Latina leaders in her community who have paved the way for future generations. Reflecting on her role, Stephanie shares: “San Marcos is my home. It's been my home for a lifetime. 📣 Public Hearing on the FY 2025 Budget – Join Us! On Tuesday, September 17, at 6 p.m., the San Marcos City Council will host a public meeting and hearing to discuss the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 budget. If approved, community members may see adjustments to utility bills and trash collection fees beginning in October, keeping pace with market values to help provide services and programs our community enjoys throughout the year. 🌟 COSM Employee of the Quarter 🌟 Amy Thomaides, Community Enhancement Initiatives Manager for the Resource Recovery Department, has gone above and beyond to support our community after the devastating May 2024 storm. Amy's dedication and strong work ethic have been instrumental in organizing debris cleanup, managing emergency contracts, and collaborating with volunteers. Even off the clock, she helped residents clear debris. Her leadership and professionalism have been outstanding throughout the process. Thank you, Amy, for your unwavering commitment to our city!
