    Join Us for Cabinet in Community! 🏙️ This Thursday at 6:00 p.m., Mayor Tishaura O. Jones and City leadership will host a Town Hall Meeting at Bishop DuBourg High School. This is a chance to engage directly with City officials, ask questions, and share your thoughts about our community.     🏙️ Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference: Revitalizing St. Louis! 🏠 The City of St. Louis is taking an active approach to revitalizing neighborhoods and addressing the challenges posed by vacant properties. On October 9, the Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference will bring together more than 1,000 community leaders, state and local policymakers, and community development practitioners from across the country to connect, learn, and share innovative solutions to address vacancy issues. The conference will showcase St. Louis' local revitalization efforts and provide national context for how other cities are building stronger neighborhoods. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in 34 sessions and 11 mobile workshops, featuring topics such as land banks, creative land reuse, new legal frameworks affecting vacant property, and strategies for promoting affordable housing. To help these displaced individuals, SLATE will host an emergency hiring fair on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1520 Market Street, 1st Floor Conference Room, St. Louis, MO 63103. The event will focus on job opportunities in the hospitality industry. Confirmed employers include TopGolf, DoubleTree, Allied Security, River City Casino & Hotel, Marriott Grand, HUSTL Hospitality Group, and Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM). Additional employers are expected to join. “SLATE Missouri Job Center is heartbroken by the sudden closure of Armory STL,” said Fredrecka McGlown, Executive Director of SLATE. “We understand how devastating this situation is for the employees and their families. Our goal is to assist those affected by helping them quickly find new employment opportunities. We encourage everyone impacted to attend this hiring event and take the next step forward.” Parking is available along Market Street, and visitors are encouraged to park at Kiel Center Garage at the corner of Clark and 16th.
