About us

Waxahachie is home to over 35,000 residents, has a healthy average growth rate of 3.7% and continues to be an attractive area for potential employees. Just a short drive from the Metroplex, Waxahachie is conveniently located at the intersection of I-35 and US 287 with City Hall less than five minutes away. Waxahachie’s year-round attractions and festivals include the Crossroads of Texas Film Festival in May, Gingerbread Trail in June, Rotary Cow Creek Country Classic Bike Ride in June, Crape Myrtle Festival in July, and Texas Country Reporter Festival. December offers an array of activities with the Parade of Lights, Candlelight Tour of Homes and Bethlehem Revisited. In 1997, the Texas State Legislature designated Waxahachie as the “Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas.” Each summer, the city’s historic streets are lined with hundreds of beautiful pink crape myrtles in full bloom. I love GETTING to engage with those who genuinely and actively serve beyond themselves every day. You MATTER…You MAKE a Difference…You ARE the Difference to Others!

This week I got to travel, engage with and be inspired by several servant leaders from the City of Waxahachie where their organizational values make up the word HEARTS (Honesty Excellence Accountability Respect Teamwork Service) as well as other servant leaders from surrounding cities. We discussed several topics including Performance Management and Disciplinary Actions, Harrassment Prevention, Recruitment and Onboarding and Civility (Respect) in the Workplace. What I dig about each of these topics is that there is a tremendous opportunity for us to see that at the heart of our organizations are (believe it or not) people who want to and are making a difference. I shared that I believe jobs/positions (while stragically and intentionally created) are inert/dead…until a PERSON occupies it and breathes LIFE into it. The position descriptions (just like our organizational values/mission statement) are just words until we bring them to life by seeing and understanding the impact that the position makes both on the organization and those we serve. As Simon Sinek shares “If you hire people just because they can do a job, they’ll work for your money. But if you hire people who believe what you believe, they’ll work for you with blood and sweat and tears.” Wow!! What an opportunity we GET to have making a daily difference LIVING out/SEEing self in our organization’s mission, vision, and values. I dig what I get to do! #servebeyondself #bringjobstolife Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool

  • WAY TO GO!!! ⭐ Congratulations to GIS Analyst Mathias Hudock, who was recognized today by Waxahachie Emergency Management for outstanding service! Mathias is working on a project for the Ellis Dallas Unified Cooperative Team (EDUCT), building a GIS map that includes the fire assets of 14 jurisdictions that work together to provide Emergency Mutual Aid. We are lucky to have Mathias on our team! 👏
