    The City of Winter Haven is proud to announce the appointment of Vance Monroe as the new Chief of Police. Known for his unwavering commitment to public safety and a career marked by excellence, Monroe brings a wealth of experience to the Winter Haven Police Department. With decades of public service across military and law enforcement roles, he has demonstrated leadership that is both strategic and compassionate, prioritizing community engagement, proactive safety measures, and a vision for a connected and secure Winter Haven. The City is excited to begin this new chapter under his guidance, confident in his ability to lead the department with integrity and purpose. A public Oath of Office Ceremony will be held to formally welcome Chief Monroe to his new position on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Nora Mayo Hall, 500 Third St. NW, Winter Haven. The City invites the community to join us in celebrating this significant occasion and showing support for our new Chief.

    The City will provide School's Out Camp Tuesday, October 15 while public schools remain closed following impacts from Hurricane Milton. Here are the details: * Children Kindergarten through Fifth Grade * $5 for City Residents, $10 for Non-Residents * 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. * Rotary Park (350 6th St NE) * Campers should come prepared with lunch, snacks, and a water bottle for the day

    Important reminder as you clean up from Hurricane Milton: Debris must be separated according to FEMA guidelines. City crews have already begun pickups and will continue to systematically work through every road in the City. Please be patient as this work is done. Following these guidelines will ensure debris can be collected efficiently! If your recycling or garbage was not collected this week due to the storm, please leave your can curbside. We will continue to work through routes today.
