On Monday, October 14, 2024, members of the community, along with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB), Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Palmer Land Conservancy, City staff, and elected officials, gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the acquisition of Avenger Open Space! Earlier this spring, the City announced that Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) had officially awarded the City of Woodland Park a grant to purchase a 120-acre parcel known as Avenger Open Space. On April 15, 2024, the City closed on the property, officially welcoming a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to preserve open space for all to enjoy in our community. The City extends our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this vision a reality. The unwavering dedication and hard work of PRAB, the financial support from GOCO, and the invaluable expertise of the Palmer Land Conservancy to ensure that the land is conserved in perpetuity through a conservation easement have all been instrumental in this success!
