A Message from Mayor R. Rex Parris on the Charges Filed Against Lancaster Deputy: ⁠ Our law enforcement officers serve on the front lines, often in high-pressure situations, and they deserve our support as they make tough decisions to protect our community. The recent charges filed against one of our deputies highlight the importance of standing by those who navigate complex and rapidly evolving incidents.⁠ ⁠ In this case, the deputy responded to a shoplifting incident that escalated into a physical altercation. While the legal process continues, we must recognize the challenges our officers face in these situations and ensure they are not unfairly targeted due to political pressures.⁠ ⁠ The charges stem from an incident at a Lancaster grocery store in July 2023. After reviewing the bodycam footage, the deputy acted swiftly to maintain control in a situation that was escalating quickly. We respect the ongoing investigation and will continue to support our officers as they work under difficult circumstances to protect our community.

A Message from Mayor R. Rex Parris on the Arrests in the Benny Molina Case: I am deeply relieved to announce that the two individuals allegedly responsible for the tragic shooting of 14-year-old Benny Molina at El Dorado Park have been apprehended. This senseless act of violence shook our community, and I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Benny’s family as they continue to mourn this unimaginable loss. The swift and decisive actions of our law enforcement have ensured that justice will be served. We are fully committed to cleaning up our streets and ensuring that Lancaster remains a safe place for all residents. I want to personally thank the officers and investigators who worked tirelessly on this case. Their dedication to protecting our community and bringing criminals to justice is a testament to their unwavering commitment to the safety of our City. We will continue to stand strong as a community and do everything in our power to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

It all started with America’s first jet flight at Edwards Air Force Base @edwardsairforcebase by the Bell XP-59A Airacomet in 1942 and continued with Captain Chuck Yeager’s ground breaking supersonic flight in the Bell X-1 in 1947. The achievements continued with Arthur “Kit” Murray setting a world record for altitude at over 90,000 feet in 1954, and Major William J. “Pete” Knight reached a record speed of 4,520 mph in the X-15 in 1967.
