Cultivating curiosity and wonder for all children with hands-on science learning through urban gardens.
About us
The CitySprouts mission is to cultivate curiosity and wonder for all children with hands-on science learning through urban gardens. Our innovative partnerships with 24 public schools in Boston and Cambridge give thousands of children ongoing opportunities to learn from nature during their elementary education. Our tuition-free summer and after school program for 10-14 year olds creates a community for young people to learn about their natural environment, engage in science and engineering through ecosystems and food systems, and explore their emerging identity as young adults.

Thanks so much to the Cambridge Science Festival, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and CitySprouts sponsor Takeda for an incredible day of #applecider pressing with so many #ScienceEducation enthusiasts! Exciting to have City of Cambridge Mayor Denise Simmons try out the cider press, and so many friends and families to stop and share a cup at the booth. A big thank you to the STAG Industrial, Inc. team for spending their Monday with us in the 90 degree heat and helping us clear out our old garden at Cambridgeport School so we can install new pest-proof garden beds! We couldn't do this work without our amazing supporters and we are grateful for their commitment to our mission. Also, a big thanks to Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA) and the #ForwardFund for the opportunity to install pest-proof garden beds to ensure that our gardens are a beautiful and safe space to learn in. 🌱

Kim Lowe Jane Hirschi we love this book so much! and families love it even more, thank you 🌱 Storey Publishing
This beautiful book is the collaboration of three like-minded companies Storey Publishing, CitySprouts and me, Kim Lowe – who care deeply about connecting kids to nature, especially in the city. CitySprouts can only reach so many people, so this mighty, little book will help them reach further. Take a look. You'll see how special it is. With the amazing force Jane Hirschi -- author and founder of CitySprouts. And gorgeous Creative Direction by Carolyn Eckert. #natureequity #scienceequity #outdoorclassroom #nonprofit #publishing #directorphotographer #thebostonglobe
