🚧 Exciting Project in Downtown Sioux City! 🚧 We’re thrilled to be working with RP Constructors, LLC on a unique design-build project, filling an old areaway using cellular concrete—an economical, fast, and minimally intrusive solution for the building's owner. This method allows us to complete the work quicker and with less disruption than traditional methods! The project includes: 🔹 Nearly 900 CY of cellular concrete 🔹 1200 SF of concrete replacement 🔹 1500 SF of waterproofing 🔹 Conduit placement for future electrical work 🔹 Accessible sidewalk improvements We’re proud to help preserve the history of this 110-year-old building while delivering innovative solutions. Fun fact: The building was originally constructed in 1915 by James P. We’re excited to work with our sister company, RP Constructors, LLC , along with our long-time equipment partner, as they expand with this state-of-the-art new location. 🚜 Our team has completed all civil and plumbing engineering design on a design-build basis, handling all associated work (design and construction) in-house. Right now, our concrete crew is hard at work paving the site to bring this vision closer to reality. While this project focuses on commercial building, our design-build expertise spans a wide range of sectors — from site improvements to industrial process systems and wastewater treatment facilities. In June 2024, the Big Sioux River flood devastated the Southeast South Dakota region, in what has been described as a 1,000-year storm event. CEC, alongside our sister construction company RP Constructors, LLC immediately responded to assist multiple communities with flood mitigation, utility restoration, and engineering services. The images here—collected using our bathymetric survey boat, photogrammetry drone, and LiDAR drone—illustrate the extent of the scour holes caused by the flood, some of which reach depths of up to 60 feet. The scale of the damage reflects the dangerous and unprecedented nature of this flood. We are working closely with Dakota Dunes CID, FEMA, and USACE to develop a cost-effective and regulatory-compliant solution that can be implemented rapidly, ahead of any future flood events. Our first meeting with FEMA has been promising, and we are optimistic about securing grant funding to both repair the damage and mitigate future risks.
