Buying a “BPA-free” product is supposed to give consumers peace of mind, but in the case of baby bottles, there’s more to the story – and parents and caregivers deserve to know. Clarkson Law Firm has just filed two separate class action suits against Philips North America and Handi-Craft Company (parent company of Dr. Brown’s Baby) for failing to properly warn consumers about the dangers of their baby bottles and baby cups leaching harmful microplastics when heated. These companies are aware of the potential harm of these microplastics to infants and are relying on the “BPA-free” label to provide a false sense of security to consumers. Philips and Handi-Craft need to be held accountable, and our suits are demanding they be truthful about the dangers — or put an end to using polypropylene plastic for their bottles. Our managing partner Ryan Clarkson spoke with BusinessToday, shedding some light on how OpenAI’s recent actions may have violated Scarlett Johansson’s rights over her likeness. Last month, the actress called out OpenAI for using an "eerily similar" voice as hers for their new chatbot, after she’d previously refused to lend her voice to the project. “Our voices are unique to us, just like a fingerprint. If Scarlett Johansson’s account of the incident is true, this is a simple case of digital forgery —impersonating someone without their permission. It’s also a classic case of commercial misappropriation of one's ability to exclusively exploit their own likeness, and Johansson would be able to seek damages and obtain an injunction against OpenAI and Altman to prevent them from using her voice moving forward." Last week, in one of the largest data breaches in history, the private information of 560 million Ticketmaster customers was compromised by a hacker group. Our founder Ryan Clarkson spoke with Cybernews about our recently filed class action suit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation Entertainment, and about how this breach highlights what’s at stake if monopolies aren’t broken up: “When companies face no competition, they're disincentivized to deliver the best product or service – in this case, by failing to protect highly sensitive data in its possession that is now for sale on the dark web. These organizations provide advocacy-based solutions and downstream relief to their target populations, which overlap with the broader consumer public that we serve and represent. In their own way, these organizations mitigate negative effects of false advertising in the food and drink industry by providing nutritious meals and health information to consumers in their communities.
