You might be curious about why we chose the name CLAY. Similar to the material clay, each of us have a deeply rooted background in construction and creativity - and now, they’re fused together. And much like a piece of claywork, the spaces we create are unique, beautiful and functional. At CLAY, we’re committed to more than constructing lasting spaces. Much like how clay forms a permanent bond when fired in a kiln, we're also committed to forging lasting connections - with our clients, community, and with each other. In choosing a name that embodied our shared values, reflected our unification as one company and the quality of our finished projects, CLAY emerged as the perfect fit. Meet Leah Turner, Senior Designer here at CLAY. She’s been with us for 5 years, having started as a co-op student as she completed her Bachelors in Interior Design at Fanshawe College. Since then, she’s had a hand in transforming several of our clients’ spaces, from bathrooms to kitchens, heritage homes, new builds and more. And her love of learning never stops - Leah is currently undergoing her Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer designation, aiming to complete it by the end of the year. Here at CLAY, we love animals - dogs in particular. If you've ever visited us at Towerline Place, chances are you've crossed path with one of our office pups. We're thrilled to be the contractor for Country Paws new dog plex kennel - a perfect project for dog lovers like us. Our entire team is so excited about this opportunity to create a comfortable, lasting space for so many pups as they spend time at their home away from home!

We take health and safety seriously, and are always looking for ways to make it a priority, helping ensure we're educated and prepared in case of an emergency. That's why over the past two weeks, 15 members of our team have participated in first aid training. And last Friday, they enjoyed the beautiful weather by completing their training outside! Laura has been with us for 2 and a half years. She brings extensive experience to every project, having trained at the oldest cabinet making school in North America, the prestigious North Bennet Street School in Boston. She also has a bachelor of fine arts from Western University. Laura has a knack for teaching our apprentices about creative and complex techniques, and is a strong example for women in trades. When she’s not at work, Laura is busy spending time with her family, including her two beautiful children, Isla and Jack.
