#iSpyClearCom yet again at the Olympics! Love seeing our headsets around the world 😍
Back home and slowly coming out of the Olympic haze. Was an honour, a pleasure and a career milestone to have directed the Shooting and Modern Pentathlon at these Olympics. I'm still coming to terms with the monumental creative and technical effort that all the members of my team put in to transmit the iconic images and engaging narratives of these sports. In Shooting we had an unexpected viral superstar draw more eyes to the discipline than usual and as a result our pictures were shared more widely across the planet than could ever be hoped. In Modern Pentathlon we had the privilege of broadcasting the last appearance of the horses in the sport marking the end of over 100 years of Modern Pentathlon in its current format. With the skill and foresight of a formidable team we were able to give the horses a stunning last dance and bring the sport to the attention of more people than ever before. The medallists in both men and women's were a fairytale victory and no one deserved it more. Suffice to say its a privelage to be at the helm of something of this magnitude and I am still pinching myself to see if I really survived. What I do know is none of it could have been possible without the trust and support of countless people. From camera operators that went above and beyond what could be reasonably asked of them, replay professors who showed the best of the unseen, switchers and assistant directors that had my back at every twist and turn, CCU and sound operators who worked underpraised yet indespensibly. Each and every one of them put forward the best of themselves for these 21 days of production and they did it with grit, passion and gusto. Whilst to list them all here would be impossible they know who they are and the immersurable value they brought. I would be amiss, however, if I didn't list a few people without whose trust, support, guidance and faith I would not have had the incredible privelage of directing at the 33rd Olympiad: David Taunton, Ursula Romero, Helen Borobokas and Florent Boas and of course the entities they represent: International Sports Broadcasting the Olympic Broadcasting Services, the International Olympic Committee – IOC and UIPM - World Pentathlon . Each one of them entrusted me with something that they hold sacred and for that trust I will forever be grateful. I can only hope I didn't disappoint. Here's to the legacy of Pierre de Coubertin and here's to half an eye on the 34th Olympiad.
